Well its our last night here in the south island and we are taking a well deserved break back in Tekapo, the place where it all started. We have ridden 10 days out of 12 at 7 different mountains, riding fresh snow at Remarks and TC. We spent the last weekend at the Ohau lodge and had a great time soaking in hot tubs, being cooked for and hanging out with the locals in the Ohau pub. It was a shame we missed the fresh snow by about a day. It looked like it was closing in just as we were leaving. Think it will be an evening soaking in more hot tubs in tekapo before we fly home from CHCH tomorrow and have to get back into reality.
Another successful south island snow mission completed, definitely have to do it again next year.

Its been an epic start to this years south island snow mish, 3 sweet days from 3!! A half day at mt hutt which was fun, nice snow but a bit tracked out from there metre of powder earlier in the week. From there we trecked over to the town of tekapo so we could hit round hill. Although the name might give you the wrong idea, this field is well worth the trip. Round hill has a fun small to medium park, with a gnarly nut cracker to NZ's longest steepest run. If you havent ridden a nut cracker before your in for a treat. As long as you can make it to the top you will be in for some awesome riding, soft snow, steep, fun terrain and after your body cant take the nut cracker no more you can just head over to the park. The wind picked up like crazy in tekapo for the second day so we decided to hit Ohau. It was first time riding there for me and I loved it. Thanks to Mike for hooking us up some cheap passes. Ohau has some amazing terrain and we were riding powder most of the day with the mt mostly to ourselves. Cant wait for the weekend we have booked there later in trip. Well worth the trip to Ohau if you get the chance. Cant believe its taken me this long to get there. Just arrived in wanaka and the weather isnt looking to promising but with shapeshifter tomorrow night its always going to be a mean weekend.

Its been a long time coming but this weekend its all on at ruapehu, finally I have weekend off work that doesnt have a wedding or any uni work to be done.
Looking forward to seeing all you weekend warriors at Turoa on Sat!!

I just managed to score some flights to chch for $80 return, what a deal. There will be a BT crew flying into chch on the 11th August and hitting a few club fields on the way over to wanaka. We will be in wanaka for around a week from approx the 14-21st of August. Flying back home from chch on the 23rd.

Shoot its the first day of May tomorrow - where is this year going. Seems like in the blink of an eye I have gone from getting back from Bali at the beginning of March to now. Been epically busy with the new store and my final year of uni but stoked with how things have worked out. New store is sick and heaps of people keen for a massive snow season.
Anyone interested in another Btown south island mission. Its just in the plans at this stage but probably some time in late July or August for a week in Wanaka/Queenstown. Last year it was epic - we had a crew of 11, set up camp for a week in Wanaka and boarded every day!! Send me an email if your interested dan@boardertown.co.nz and I'll start some planning.

Its been a week here in bali and the trip has been going well. Started in Kuta, mainland of Bali and managed to manoevre the city on scooters and find our way to Uluwata. A sick left hand break with an amazing view. We have now ferried over to Lombok, a 3rd world paradise where we have set up camp for a couple of days of straight surfing and relaxing. Will head back to Bali in a couple of days for some more of that hectic place. Indonesia - definitly a sick place for a cheap holiday!!!

First time at Big Day Out and it lived up to all expectations!! Hard to pick a best act but the line up for me went - Temper Trap, Passion Pit, Concord Dawn, Jet, Dizzie, Calvin Harris, Lilly Allen, Muse, Groove Armada. Damn what a line up!! If I had to pick..... I think big name acts Muse and Groove armada would be my choice but Passion Pit was up there.

A tasty little evening around the campfire on Waiheke to bring in the new year and im back into this morning here at Btown to start off another year (another decade even). Cant wait to get stuck into 2010, theres lots on the cards but first things first - a little trip to Bali with the boys!!

Its all going on here at bTown today, the Macleans and Howick college snowboard teams are heading away this avo for the annual North Island Secondary schools comp, we got the mean crew so cant wait for that. And also tonight the bTown boys and family will be pimping it out in there Penguin suits battling it out at the Manukau Business Awards. We finalists in 2 categories so fingers crossed for that!!!

Just got back from an epic weekend in chch with tim, thanks Jay, Race and all the Higher Ground crew for putting it on. Yeah the Burton gear is looking sick again for next year, its just so hard to decided what board i want for next season, so many options. We managed to score a blue sky day at Mt hutt on the sunday too, hutt has stepped it up for this season with a fun as park and nice snow. Definitely worth a shred if you get the chance.
Counting down to our btown wanaka mission coming up in 2 weeks from wednesday. we got 11 riders, 8 days and a heli booked. Will keep you posted with how it goes. You can click through to our facebook page to follow what we are up to and how the trip is going.

Just got back from an epic weekend in 'kune, we got in a huge day on the saturday and a nice slushy wet half day today as well as a massive night at the festival on Saturday night!! Man, such a good weekend and like any good snowboard weekend I am smoked right now. Heaps of btown crew at the mt ripping and repping. To be honest I wasnt expecting much when we left on the friday, the weather report was looking average but we got some sweet boarding in. Definitly needs a bit more snow but its all good for the beginning of the season.
Thanks to the massive crew for such a good weekend and cant wait for the next trip!! Who's keen??

So I didnt get my first kill in our recent hunting trip, actually none of us even saw a deer but it was a mean way to spend a few days away with the boys. We spent the days in the bush and the nights buy the fire playing poker and sipping whiskey and port. Id be keen as for another mission into the Mangaroa, it is such a good way to get away from the crazininess of general life.
Since then, it has been hectic with work and moving into a 9 bedroom mansion wit 9 boys??? including a pool and an epic view of the city. After a few late nights and endless unpacking of boxes we got it sussed, we even managed to talk one of the flatties into getting us a 42" plasma. You cant live in a mansion with out a decent tv. thanks chris

Me and a couple of the boys are heading away tonight on a 4 day hunting mission somewhere about a 15 minute flight from Taupo and 100km from the closest road. It is going to be crazy cold, even a possibility we are going to be hunting in the snow but we should be able to keep ourselves warm with whiskey and venison. I dont know alot about hunting deer but im pretty pumped to get my first kill.

Wow the last month has flown by and i havent blogged for ages. Just planning a south island snow trip for the burton open in august, cant wait!!!!! We just got in some crazy as Forum boards, they look sick and should be getting Burton 2010, Bataleon, Lib, GNU, Rome, K2, Ride any day.
OHHH btown turns 5 this year, damn thats gone fast.
