i just read a report saying that Kevin Pierce is in critical condition after crashing out while training for the 2010 Winter Olympics. apparently he was attempting a double cork and over-rotated, hitting his head on the top of the half-pipe. this is pretty sucks and I am sure kevin and his family would appreciate our prayers and thoughts... if you are keen, drop him a message over at the FRENDS site. it always sucks seeing someone go down. let's hope he gets back up soon.

Me and 3 of the boys were lucky enough to go for a heli with the Wilderness Heliski group based at Mt Cook. The day was amazing, the chopper was off the chain, the scenery was by far the best ive been in and the guides made it a great day. The weather man didnt give us the champagne powder day we were dreaming about but im definitely hooked and will be back again next year. We had some epic runs and even got a chance to build a sweet kicker off a nice rock face.

B*town was opening its doors for the first time at Centrepoint Mall in little old Howick this day 5 years ago. Wow that has gone crazy fast. Local btown sponsored wakeboarder Brendan Ellis came 21st in the world's held in Oklahoma at the beginning of September. Brendan tied 21st equal with Danny Harf, who won trick of the year for landing the first ever 1260. 42 competed in the worlds so to place 21st is a huge effort, well done Brendan.
Brendan is now back in Orlando riding with other Kiwis Brad Smeele and Jeff Weatherall before heading home for the NZ season

We had a lot of entries into our Barry Curtis skatepark competition but there has to be a winner and NICK BARRY IS A HUGE WINNER. For his super-creative entry Nick wrote his letter on a tie-died t-shirt. For his efforts he wins a BRAND SPANKING NEW Zero skateboard and t-shirt.

Btown wakeskater and east auckland local Lucas Bartley Smith headed down to the wakeskate nationals on the weekend in Mangakino and came home with the best trick award. Nice work cuz!!! He landed a pop shuv it reentry and also blind off the rail. I've been out riding wit Lucas a few times this summer and he does rip.

Yessssur! that is right, hasn't been done in a while but finally the 3rd annual Boardertown dodgeball comp is here, yes it does defeat the purpose of 'annual' but we won't worry about that..
So here's the deal;
- teams of 5, $25 entry fee per team, with a final prize of $500 plus theres loads of spot prizes and other free stuff being given away.
- it's on Saturday March 8th on the main road that goes through the middle of Botany Town Centre.
- no limit to how many girls or guys on each team (this aint college people, its the real deal).

The first annual Slide and Glide wake comp was held at panmure basin in the weekend. I managed to make it down on the sunday in the rain and wind but big props to all the riders who braved the chop and got out there for the session anyway. Due to the dodgy conditions the finals were cancelled and the comp was decided on Saturdays heats. Big thanks goes to Brendan and Glenn for there effort in organising this years event. We were stoked to be a part of it and looking forward to next years being even bigger and better.

so i get a phone call from my mum while i am playing golf... my brother is in ecuador with 2 portugese dudes. they stop in a small town and head out for a surf. on their way in, some dudes run up to them with guns and tell them to get down on the ground. my bro looks up, thinking it might be the police and he gets the butt of a gun to the head. the robbers end up taking everything except for his shoes, shorts, surfboard and luckily they missed his wallet. no t-shirt, no passport. the boys cruise to the police who they pay a bribe to for help. the police tell them they are lucky, most people are kidnapped or killed. it's all good though, the boys are back surfing now and all my bro has to show for it is a couple of egg-shaped bumps on his head...

If you haven't heard already ruapehu had a small eruption last night causing a couple of lahars and a bit of carnage. One person has been seriously injured, a big boulder fell through the roof of his lodge at whakapapa onto his legs!! Miccy is down there at the moment and was staying up whakapapa, where most of the damage happened. It was a nervous hour or so waiting to here if she was all good and she was.

Boardertown had its 3rd Birthday on the 9th of July. Thanks to everyone who remembered, actually that was nobody, we didnt even remember, haha!!! Anyway thanks for all the support over the last 3 years. Who knows where we will be at the end of the next 3?????
